Alex Eames from RasPi.TV is running a KickStarter campaign for RasPiO Inspiring – a new system of RGB LED boards using APA102c LEDs.
The Kickstarter campaign can be found here…
The idea behind the system is that the shapes can fit together in a modular way to make whatever shape you want – either 2D or 3D.
There’s a straight-8 stick, a triangle, a circle, a semi-circle and a square, but also a small pHAT-sized driver board for Raspberry Pi. The semi-circle and square will be made if the project hits certain financial milestones (£25k & £35k respectively).
RasPiO Inspiring goes perfectly with the new Pi Zero W. WiFi enables you to control your LEDs with any wifi-enabled device, e.g. your phone. One of the reward levels includes the new Pi Zero W – enabling you to make a networked clock which will always show the correct time (using NTP).
RasPiO Inspiring works with…
- Raspberry Pi
- Arduino
- ESP8266
- ATtiny
- Microbit
Microbit drivers are currently being written, but the other platforms were all on display at the recent Raspberry Pi Birthday Weekend (see Eben photo below).
The campaign was funded in 8.63 hours and finishes at on Sunday 2nd April. Alex hopes it will do well enough to be able to produce the full system. RasPiO Inspiring will also be on display at PiWars on 1st/2nd April.
