A couple of weeks ago, Russell Barnes interviewed me via a skype voice call. We had a half-hour discussion about HDMIPi, RasPi.TV and RasPiO as well as the Raspberry Pi in general and a bit of background stuff that I don’t tend to blog about. I’m publishing this post just after we hit 2 million page views, which will be around 1600 on Friday 13th June 2014 (lucky for some). It’s interesting this week that the Raspberry Pi Foundation has announced sale of 3 million Pis. We can’t quite match that, but let’s have some fun with stats anyway… 3 Million Pis sold – announced this week 2 Million page views on RasPi.TV – reached today 1 Million minutes of video watched on the RasPi.TV YouTube channel – in the next couple of weeks 1 Million visitors to RasPi.TV blog […more…]

You may remember I launched three RasPiO® boards a couple of weeks ago. One of them, the RasPiO® Breakout Pro, offers protection for the GPIO ports on the Raspberry Pi. Back in December, you might remember I blogged about using Texy’s 2.8″ touchscreen with the Pi camera. At the time I was also aware of the very similar, but slightly more compact, PiTFT by Adafruit. The space for four slim buttons on the PCB made it look ideal. So, this week, when SK Pang tweeted about having PiTFT back in stock, I snapped one up. I also thought I’d put it in a nice case. Launching the RasPiO product range - first three boards

The day has finally arrived for me to launch my first three products in the RasPiO® range. What’s RasPiO®? I hear you ask? It’s a family of add-on boards for the Raspberry Pi®. It’s pronounced “Razz-Pie-Oh” (emphasis on Pi) and is derived from the fact that the boards will mostly be I/O (input-output) boards for the Raspberry Pi. At the end of August, I bought one of Texy’s 2.8 inch 320×240 touch-screens to have a play with. I thought it’d be great if I could somehow get it working with my RasPiCamcorder. Although, at the time, you had to jump through quite a few hoops to get the drivers working, and nobody had yet done the necessary work to enable camera output to be displayed on it. Back in October, I did part 1 of a series on interfacing Python to the Twitter API using Tweepy. Part 2 hasn’t happened yet because HDMIPi took over my life for several weeks as our KickStarter campaign went ballistic. While I was at the Raspberry Pi HQ in Cambridge last week, I thought it would be fun to shoot a little video of the new Pi NoIR camera using my RasPiCamcorder and some close-up lenses. It seemed like an unmissable opportunity. It’s a rather short video, but you should see some people you’ll recognise in it.
